An emaciated French Bulldog puppy died after enduring weeks—or possibly months—of suffering from malnutrition and an untreated skin condition. Paul Prentice, 22, appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court over the shocking neglect of 11-month-old Roberto. The helpless puppy was found severely underweight, cold, pale and lethargic. His frail body was covered in painful, blistered scabs and open sores caused by a skin condition that had been left untreated. Veterinary experts said Roberto’s shocking condition showed he had been malnourished for a considerable period—and that his suffering should have been obvious. The desperately ill puppy was finally taken to the PDSA Pet Hospital on November 21, 2025. Despite desperate efforts to save him, Roberto tragically died while vets were attempting to provide treatment. A post-mortem examination found the most likely cause of death was a perforated gastric ulcer and chronic blood loss. Veterinary evidence revealed Roberto had suffered for weeks, potentially months, before his death.
